1548. Clarence Waldo Blethen
Clarence spent 18 years in baseball, almost all of it in the minors. He appeared in five games for the Red Sox in 1923 and didn't get another oppurtunity in the majors until 1929 when he worked in two contests for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He had no decisions for either team. He spen seven years in Atlanta twice winning 20 or more games. Among the other teams he played for were Frederick, Little Rock, Greenville, Mobile, Macon, Knoxville, Wilkes-Barre and Johnstown. He managed Leaksville and Savannah in the late 1930s. Until a few years ago, Clarence took an active part in coaching Little Leaguers, But he curtailed his activities when, at age 72, he hurt his arm showing the youngsters how to slide. Nickname "Climax" Blethen during playing years.
