Boothbay Harbor Native Lesley Blethen Named Boothbay Harbor Postmaster

Lesley Blethen, new Postmaster at the Boothbay Harbor Post Office.

Lesley Carter Blethen of Boothbay has assumed new duties as Postmaster of the Boothbay Harbor Post Office, replacing Barbara Swiderski, who is now postmaster in Bowdoinham.
An 11-year veteran of the Postal Service, she began her career as a casual carrier in Boothbay Harbor, and was named a clerk in 1993.

Following her marriage in 1996 to Brian Blethen, who was assigned to the Boothbay Harbor Coast Guard Station, she moved to California when he was transferred, and worked as a clerk in the Sonoma, California post office for several years.

In 1998, the Blethens returned to Maine, and she went to work at the Wiscasset Post Office, first as clerk and later as Officer in Charge, before being named Postmaster in Damariscotta in 1999.

The Boothbay Harbor native is a graduate of Boothbay Region High School, Class of 1985, and served in the U.S. Army for six years. She and her husband, who works at Hodgdon Yachts, and their two daughters, Faith, 3-, and Glory, 2, make their home at Blue Hill Shores off Pleasant Cove Road in Boothbay.

Lesley Blethen is the first native of the area to serve as Boothbay Harbor Postmaster since the late Arnie Brewer. She said this week that she is excited to be working back in her home town, and added "It gets better every day."
